Clay grew up surfing the treacherous and frigid waters of Ocean Beach San Francisco. After starting a career in the commercial shipping industry, he decided to settle in Tahoe, drawn by his many passions including snowboarding, snowmobiling, mountain biking, and camping. The only thing lacking was the ability to surf… until he discovered wakesurfing. After rekindling his stoke for surfing four years ago on a friend’s wakesurf boat, Clay realized he needed his own! Combining his professional skills/ experience and love for wakesurfing and being on the water, Clay decided to pursue his dream and start Lake Level Surf Charters.

Captain Derek aka “Deesh” might spend more time on the water than he does on land. He grew up boating with his family and has owned multiple boats of his own. When He’s not boating he likes snowboarding, mountain biking, golfing, backpacking and camping. Derek has also made a career in commercial shipping with more than 10 years of experience. His latest job was driving a 300 foot ship that hauled rocket boosters for spaceships! Whether its navigating the seven seas or deep blue of Lake Tahoe, Capt. Derek is the man for the job.
